As you may or may not be aware, numerous sports have championships that are based not on just one event, but take the aggregate of an athletes performance over the year and crown the top performing athlete as “Champion of Champions” so to speak.
With this in mind, we believe it would be fair to recognise our own “Champion of Champions” right here in NSW. The scheme is only open to NSW competitors. It is our proposal to ignore divisions, and reward the shooter regardless of which gun they decide to compete with. Match attendance is rewarded; a point for each selection match you attend and 2 points for the Nationals, thereby a competitor who shoots “solidly” and attends all selection matches can still edge out someone who only shoots the minimum selection matches and places highly.
The proposal for the points scheme to award to competitors is as follows:
- 1 point per team selection match attendance (must be a valid score, no DQ)
- 3 points for a win (highest place NSW competitor in your division)
- 2 points for second
- 1 point for third
- 2 points for a Nationals attendance (again, must be a valid score, no DQ)
Points will be updated at the same time as the match scores running tally. The Championship is open to all NSW competitors.
The Champion of Champions will be recognised at the final selection match of the year.
Good luck & safe shooting!
