Section Coordinators Report
Hi all
On the Saturday the 28th of October IPSC NSW held it’s AGM at the 2 Day Team Selection Match being held by DRSLPC.
While the turn out for the Match was great (73 entry’s), the number of members that stuck around for the AGM was a little on the light side, either everyone is happy with the way things are going, or no one really cares. I would like to think most members are happy with direction that IPSC NSW is heading.
For those of you that are interested, here is the 2006/2007 committee line up.
IPSC NSW inc Officers:
Section Co Ordinator Glenn Land BPC
Deputy Section Co Ordinator Stuart Collibee DRSLPC
Secretary Adrian Keed DRSLPC
Treasurer Jim Staader BPC
Committee member Darren Friend SSAA SMPC
Committee member Glenn Alit DRSLPC
Committee member Sang Yuen SIPC
Committee member Dean Noakes NPC
Non Voting Representatives
NROI Kent Docker SIPC
NSW Practical Pistol Director Sam Lopresti BPC
Business arising from the AGM
During the meet we discussed a range of topics; all with the aim of improving IPSCNSW.
A Match Late Fee
Shortly a letter will be sent out to all clubs that are intending to hold IPSC matches in 2007 asking them to have a common “Entries in by Date” on their entry forms (either the Friday one week before the Match or 7 Days before)
Also they will be asked to have a $5.00 late fee listed for all entry’s received after the “Entries in by Date” or for entering on the day of the match. All of this is intended to be in place for the start of the 2007 IPSC NSW season.
Now before anyone gets upset about this, I was the one who brought this topic up, being the NSW Section Coordinator and a Match Director over the last few years, I have been in a position to see how late entries and or entering on the day of a match slows the start of the match down considerably and uses up extra man power to process the forms, which in most clubs holding matches, is a resource that is in short supply come match day as most of us want to shoot.
Now we are not saying that you can’t pay on the day, we understand that not every body has a cheque book now days or has the time to get a money order and that a lot off clubs don’t have EFPS available. So all clubs are more than happy for you to pay on the day, all they ask is that you bring the correct entry fee with you, but just check the entry forms in case the club states other wise.
Like wise all clubs are still willing to except entries on the day of the match, but for that you will need to pay the $5.00 late fee on top of your entry. This is not about the clubs making more money as an extra $5.00 is not going to make much difference to the over all cost of attending a match.
But what we hope it will achieve is to remind you the competitor, that by not sending in and entry form you are causing a hassle for the clubs hosting the match come match day, as we are now starting to get between 65 and 70 entry’s at matches and having 20 or 30 off those people entering on the day causes a lot of extra work.
Just think about it, if every competitor had their entry form in one week before the match the clubs could know how many score sheets to have printed and stapled together, all the squadding could be already sorted, and RO’s could be assigned to squads so come match day all you would need to do is check in, get your score sheets and squadding details and attend the morning briefing and start shooting, instead of the way it works now where we have been wasting a lot of time with redoing squadding list and so on during the first day of a match as opposed to the 2nd day of a match where we already have our competitors number and know what squad we belong too and which range to start on.
If we can all work together on this and try and help out the clubs, there are a few things we will be able to have set up that will benefit all competitors attending a match:
Email entry forms ( so all you will need to do is fill it in and email your entry to the club )
Competitors match information on the IPSCNSW web site, using your IPSC membership number to identify you i.e.
IPSC# Div Grade Squad
56 S M 1
So come match day all you would need to do is check in and get your competitors number and score sheets and find out which range to start on.
These are just a few of things we could do, but even if we don’t do the above just having everyone’s entry in 1 week before the match will help the club holding the match a great deal anyway.
Juniors and Ladies Training Day
The topic of Juniors training was brought up and having some sort of program in place. All there felt there was a need to have a program, but what form it could take and what resources would be needed was still unclear. I pointed out that this topic was talked about at great length at the recent IPSCA AGM and that it was not just a matter of setting up something for the Juniors because each State had very comprehensive rules for working with Juniors, to this end IPSCA has asked the former IPSCA President Des Lilly to look into each States Law requirements for Junior training programs and is due to report back to the IPSCA executive committee by the end of this year on each states requirements, so it was decided to wait until we are give more information.
But in the meantime we still thought something could and should be arranged, so with that in mind we are going to be organising a combined Juniors (with their parents or guardian) and Ladies training day, which will mainly be focused on IPSC Rules and how they are applied in a match, if you like a “mini RO’s course” that will explain why the RO’s do what they do and what they the competitor should know them selves as competitors.
For now it looks we will run out of time to arrange it for the end of this year, but hopefully we will be able to arrange it for early next year, at this stage February, but once we have settled on a date and location IPSCNSW will contact all our Ladies and Junior members by mail with an invitation to attend the day.
Rifle and Shotgun Courses and Matches
At the recent IPSCA AGM it was requested that all states make an effort to hold and run either Rifle or Shotgun matches or both during the coming year.
So at the NSW AGM we discussed the possibility of holding matches and the need to hold more qualification courses. So all delegate present where requested to approach their clubs committees and find out if their Clubs ranges where licence to shoot either Rifle or Shotgun so that we may look at holding a match and or qualification days their. It was also discussed that IPSCNSW could help out with targets and such for the match. At this time it looks like we may have at least 2 clubs that would be able to hold training days and also matches.
Once IPSCNSW have official confirmation from these clubs we will work with them to arrange matches for the 2007 season as well as more training days.
2007 IPSCNSW Calendar
By now hopefully most of you will have seen the IPSCNSW Match Calendar for 2007, at the IPSCNSW AGM it was discussed how it had been well received by most club and that all clubs that where able to hold matches put their hands up.
One of the main reasons for trying to have the calendar ready this early was to help our member that need to arrange time off so they may attend matches, as there is a growing number of our members that work shifts now days and must organise leave if they wish to have a weekend off, it was hoped that by having the calendar out this early it would make it easier for them and everyone else to arrange to compete at more matches in 2007.
IPSCNSW Newsletter Editor
If there is one area that I think stands out where we could and should be doing better is that of the IPSCNSW newsletter, the truth is I just don’t have enough time to spend on it, with everything else I do with IPSCNSW.
So at the AGM I asked if we could create the position of IPSCNSW Newsletter Editor on our committee as a non voting member. The idea being that their sole responsibility would be to work on the Newsletter and nothing else for IPSCNSW, it is hoped that by have them only working on the Newsletter it would stand a better chance of being completed at regular intervals. During discussion about the position of Editor it was decided that they would not be required to contribute articles to the newsletter unless they wished, and that it would be the job of all the IPSCNSW committee and members of IPSCNSW. The editor’s only task would be to collect all of the articles and assemble the newsletter and then pass it back to the Section Co Ordinator to have it printed and sent out.
So shortly we will be advertising for the volunteer position of Editor for the IPSCNSW Newsletter, at the moment we are just finalising the requirements i.e. must be a financial member of IPSC, must have own computer and so on, it won’t be a very big list. So if you have the time and the idea of doing something that will have an impact on IPSCNSW member’s interest you, then keep an eye on the web site for more information in the coming weeks.
Memberships
By now most of you should have received your membership cards from IPSCA depending on when you sent them in, I know it is still taking longer than some of you would like but you must remember every one that looks after your memberships does it as a elected volunteer and that sometimes our own life gets in the way of things and we cannot always put the time in that is required. But by all means if you feel it is taking longer than it should please contact your Section Co Ordinator (me) first, before contacting IPSCA (Jayne Moon) as I might be able to sort things out for you.
In most cases the main reason for your IPSC membership card not being issued is due to your club not being affiliated to IPSCA. So to help you work out if your club has affiliated I will be keeping a running list of clubs on the web site, so you will be able to check.
The other good news is that our memberships are on the increase here in NSW and Nationally and we are the 2nd biggest state for members after Victoria. Also our Juniors and Ladies memberships are increasing along with the number of clubs affiliating for the first time so we are slowly starting to regain lost ground after the buy back.
That’s it for now, see you at the range.

11th August 2006
Hi Everyone,
Well it looks like most of you have received your IPSC membership renewals in the mail. To date I have processed over 180 membership forms and I hope that if you haven’t received your 2006/2007 IPSC cards, you soon will.
For those of you that made the trip up to Grafton, I would like to thank you for making it an enjoyable match. For those that could not make it, you missed out on a very good match and some of the nicest weather to shoot in that we’ve had in a long time.
If you are looking for matches over the next few months don’t forget the BPC & DRSLPC combined 2 day Open with Saturday the 26th at BPC and Sunday the 27th at DRSLPC, soon followed by the St Marys PC inaugural one-day Super Sunday to be held at the SSAA indoor range at St Marys on the 10th of September. This should be a very interesting match as it will have no rain, mud or wind to contend with. Entry forms for both matches can be found on the Calendar page.
On behalf of IPSCNSW I would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the delay in returning the Perpetual Trophies to their current title holders. The only excuse we have for the delay is making sure they were right, polished up, repaired and properly engraved. Several had not been engraved for a number of years. I will be contacting the holders of the Perpetual Trophies from 2006 State Title to arrange their return.

As you can see by the photo they are a very impressive group of trophies and some of them would be quite expensive if we had to replace them. You would be hard pressed to find a better group of trophies any where else for our discipline.
Although there is only a small group of our members that have achieved the required performance at our State Titles over the years to win them, at the end of the day these trophies belong to all of our IPSCNSW members and are a living history of our past winners. In the future if you are fortunate enough to be a recipient of one of them, please remember you are the custodian of our IPSCNSW history. As such you have the responsibility to have your name engraved on it and when the following years State Titles come around, you are also asked to take the time to clean it and return the trophy in a timely manner in a condition that befits our State Titles Trophy.
If you would like a better look at our silver-wear then click here which will take you to the photos page to see some close-ups of the trophies. Our new Champions - Hall of Fame page, where we will keep a history of our past winners is coming soon.
That’s about it for now. I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming matches.

Hi All
Well, I was close, it was only a month or two out, but the membership renewal forms have final been sent out so most of you should receive them in the next few days. Sorry for the delay, but this was a national mail out to every state and before it could precede all the states had to agree on its format. Anyway it’s done now so it should not be so difficult next time.
As the accompanying letter suggests, check your details, if you think something is wrong make a note of it and attach it to your renewal form when you send it back. And sorry, that does not mean your grades at the bottom of the page.
Just remember this will not fix all things over night but it is a great step in the right direction.
Match reports and other stuff.
First of all, don’t forget to get your entries off soon if you are heading up to Grafton for the IPSC Open on the 7th and 8th of July. It’s looking like a good weekend with quite a few Queenslander’s coming down for it.
DRSLPC held a One Day Open on the 28th of May which was very well attended with over 50 entries and by all accounts it was a good match; so good in fact it looks like we will try and run a Super Sunday Series (more on this later).
BPC held their 2-Day Open on the 3rd & 4th of June to help christen their new ranges. Although it threatened, for a change it was not wet. This must have been the reason they had 70 plus entries. Everyone seemed to enjoy the stages and on a personal note I got a lot of enjoyment out of my fellow competitor’s dilemma of not being able to work out the best place to reload as they had so many options to choose from.
On the Saturday afternoon of the BPC match we, held a Delegates meeting where a few things where discussed. Briefly the topics discussed included the following:
We also spoke about a one day series (Super Sunday) with a few clubs putting their hand up to run matches. So at this stage I will be chasing up clubs to host one day matches. I have already had expression of interest from St Marys PC in holding a 1 day match as well as DRSLPC and a few other clubs. The One Day Super series will probably run over 4 or 5 matches with the series winners being those with the highest overall average %. Stuart Collibee (Grycol) and Paul Britton (PBA imports) have graciously agreed to supply trophies for the series winners.
The idea of a Clubs Team Challenge was also discussed at the delegates meeting. The general idea is for members from the same pistol club to nominate at matches for the teams challenge; you don’t need to be in the same division as each other and different grade team members is a mandatory requirement (the rules of the CTC are still in draft form. Click here to check them out as they stand at the moment). It is also designed to reward the clubs that have members go to matches rather than the club that has the best shooters. Anyway, have a look at the draft rules. At this time we anticipate starting the Club Challenge at the Grafton match. Once again, Grycol and PBA have graciously agreed to supply a trophy for the winning club.
That’s about it. I hope you will try and make it to a few matches during the remainder of the year, we have a very good calendar laid out!
Shoot straight and shoot fast.

To all members
This year's IPSC membership forms for 2006/2007 are being posted to every member. They should arrive by the end of May.
They will be already filled in and only require you to check/correct the accuracy of the information on them, then post it back to IPSCNSW along with the correct membership fee.
PLEASE make cheques/money orders payable to IPSCNSW
It is hoped that by posting out the memberships renewals this year, it will help with clarifying the start of the IPSC year (1st July to 30th June) and because they're already filled in, it should help speed up processing (and getting your cards out to you!).

Hi everyone
It’s been a while since my last update and a lot has been going on, so where do I start?
DRSLPC
Hosted our first match of the year on the 11th & 12th of February and guess what? It did not rain!! Finally a match in the dry! Drummoyne put on a good match, with 57 entries which really pushed the limits of their ranges, however they handled it well. Port-a-loos hired for the match were very much appreciated by all.
NSW IPSC State Titles, Coffs Harbour Pistol Club.
What can I say, it rained and rained and then it rained some more. I’m almost glad I was overseas! But I must apologise for missing it. By all accounts it was a good match under very trying conditions that if had it been dry would have been an outstanding match. If you have not had a chance to look at the photos from the match on this site, you will find it hard to appreciate what the Coffs Harbour club and the 120 + competitors went through and they all should give themselves a pat on the back for running the match and for doing it safely.
Our top placed NSW members where:
Open:
3rd Damien Fitzgerald
5th Brendon Murray
7th Lee Rohrich
Standard:
2nd Brian Blight
3rd Sang Yuen
4th Mathew Workman
Production:
1st Craig Ginger
2nd Jim Staader
3rd Alan Bennett
IPSC Nationals SA 14th to the 17th April (Easter)
It was 30th Anniversary of IPSC in Australia and one of the biggest Nationals matches held with 313 competitors. The stages where a good mix of speed and accuracy and the host club had done to a lot of work, with quite a few of the stages being able to turn nasty if you did not respect them.
The official start to the match was Friday the 14th , and guess what? It rained for half the day and was windy and very, very cold. I think everyone there was cursing NSW for bringing the rain (IPSC Drought Busters Inc!).
I think this must have been the reason that NSW did the best it has done in a while, with our Gold Open and Gold Standard teams both finishing 2nd outright. We also took out Top Standard Junior with young Jeffery Staader (14 years old). He also won Top Standard Junior in the man-on-man shoot-off on the Monday.
We also walked away with two of the three Top Super Senior awards; Bob Sully in Production and John Cooper in Standard.
Our top placed NSW members where:
Open:
5th Damien Fitzgerald
6th Robert Vlackic
12th Doug Petts
Standard:
5th Brian Blight
8th Mathew Workman
11th Julian Hilser-Ritter
Production:
3rd Paul Langley
8th Joshua Kelly
9th Gary White
It also needs to be mentioned that Joshua Kelly and Gary White are now both Master Grade members. Congratulations too, Josh, for taking out Top Rookie in Production. Well done to all.
So, now I have caught up, what’s ahead? Well, lots! It looks like we have a pretty good calendar for the rest of the year, starting with:
Blacktown IPSC Open 3rd & 4th of June:
They will be on our new ranges so come and help us break them in. (Team selection match)
Grafton PC IPSC Open 8th & 9th of July:
This is the IPSC sanctioned match and should not be confused with the SSAA match there in May, that is not an IPSC sanctioned match. (Team selection match)
BPC & DRSLPC IPSC Open August 26th BPC & 27th DRSLPC:
This will be another go at running a combined 2 day match. (Team selection match)
Bowral PC IPSC Open September:
Date to be confirmed. It’s good to see Bowral becoming involved in IPSC again. They used to hold very good matches. (Team selection match)
DRSLPC IPSC Open 28th & 29th October:
This is a 2 day match, and IPSCNSW will be holding it’s AGM there on the Saturday afternoon. (Team selection match)
Newtec PC IPSC Open 4th & 5th November:
Date to confirmed, but should be our last match for the 2006 calendar. (Team selection match)
As you can see we have a fantastic selection of matches coming up for the remainder of the year. I hope to have another newsletter ready soon which will also have your membership form for the 2006/2007 IPSC membership year attached. Remember the new IPSC year starts on the 1st of July for memberships and club affiliations.
That’s about it for now.
Shoot fast and shoot safe.

Section Coordinators Report
Hello everyone.
Is it this late in the year already, I don’t know where the year has gone. It will soon be Christmas and then the New Year is just around the corner. So on behalf of the IPSCNSW committee I would like to wish every body a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and hope to see you all safe and well in the New Year.
Since my last post a few things have been happening, so I will give you a brief rundown on them.
Firearms Regulations Review
As some of you may have known the NSW Government is reviewing the current Firearms Regulation (it was just a little bit of light reading. Whew!). They called for submission from interested groups and members of the public on their proposed amendments or adjustments to the regulation.
IPSCNSW returned a submission to Firearms Registry in regards to the changes. To be honest there was not a lot that was going to have a direct affect on IPSC in NSW. A couple of things that would effect us indirectly, such as no allowances for clubs to have open days so the general public can come and try pistol shooting in a safe environment. This would impact on us indirectly because if clubs have trouble attracting new members we will not have as many new club members to convert to IPSC. One thing that was of some help to our members was the proposed change to the way match attendances could be recorded. Currently, “away” matches are not supposed to count for your match attendances. There is an agreement/understanding with Firearms Registry that “away” matches can be counted towards your scored attendances. In the new regulation it is now written that any competition match can now count for your required scored attendances for that year. If any member would like a copy of the IPSCNSW submission, send me an email and I will forward you a copy.
IPSC Australia AGM
The IPSC Australia AGM was held on the 22nd & 23rd of October 2005 in Adelaide. I was hoping the minutes would have been ready by now and I could of directed you to them. They aren’t, so here is a brief rundown on what went on.
Executive Officers for 2005/2006 are
Regional Director Des Lilley
Public officer Neal Miller
Deputy Regional Dir Gareth Graham
Secretary Peter Blackmore
Treasurer Vic Schilo
NROI President Greg Moon
Membership Officer Jayne Moon
National Grading Officer Bill Wood
Web Master Kip Manwaring
Some other things of interest:
National Trainers IPSCA will be setting a National standard for IPSC Holster Course Trainers. It will have accreditation attached to it and have a minimum standard for the trainers. I do not know all the details yet, but what was discussed was that a couple of member in each state would do a “National” accreditation course so they become the head trainers for each State, then they would accredit other trainers from clubs in their state. We should know more at the mid year meeting.
RO Courses will now be run in each state by the NIOR representative (Kent Docker in NSW) What will happen is that Greg Moon (“Moony”) will come and oversee the next course with Kent and if every thing is good, Moony will give Kent the OK to start holding courses sometime early next year (2006). As soon as it’s all been sorted I will get Kent to put something up on his page.
.40 calibre news is not good. For those of you that have not heard, we (IPSCA) were rejected in our request to the Federal Govement again to have the maximum calibre allowed in IPSC increased to .40 cal. This does not mean this issue is dead. IPSCA and those present at the AGM felt it was prudent to give it some time before we submit our request again (we could have a change of Government next year). In the mean time IPSCA will keep submitting our scores from international matches to show our current Government how we are being disadvantaged overseas. You can get more of a report from the IPSCA web site.
Rifle & Shotgun IPSC Nationals will be held next year in conjunction with the Bush Rangers shoot held at Little River in South Australia on the June long weekend. From what I understand the IPSC R&S Nat’s will be run on the range in the days before the Bush Ranger shoot, so if you wish to hang around you can also do the Ranger shoot as well.
IPSC Nationals 2007 and 2008 locations where decided on at the meeting, with the 2007 Nationals going to Darwin N.T.(around May I think) and the 2008 Nationals going to Townsville QLD. (around September I think).
IPSCA Financial report is here if anybody wants a look, I will try and get it scanned so if anybody would like a look just email me and I will send you a copy. One or two things of interest where that the Treasurer is now required to present a budget for each year. Also, Team spending will be capped at a set percentage of membership revenue each year and placed into a Teams account. The Team expenses will come out the Teams account and once the money has run out for that year that’s it. The details of the proposed spending cap will be presented at the mid year meeting.
Memberships and membership forms and how each state goes about their business were discussed at great length. Currently, IPSCA has about 883 members although this figure was from October and then NSW only had about 133 members. Now NSW has around 200, so the National figure should be a little higher.
One of the things to come out of the discussion on memberships was how NSW is always one of the last States to get it’s membership forms in and that they seem to come all year. In comparison, South Australia (with 177 members) has most of their members paid up by the 1st of July as required and most of the other states are not far behind.
It was decided that IPSCA would do a National mail out of membership renewals next year, at the end of April. The membership renewal forms would already be filled in with the member’s details and all that would be required is for members to check the details and send them back to the State Section Coordinator to sign off on them and send them on to IPSCA.
The IPSCA committee and the State Section Coordinators agreed that processing of memberships and the issuing of cards to members is a significant concern to our members. The mail out of membership renewal forms is just a small step in streamlining the process. Members will also be getting new cards instead of the old cardboard laminated ones that where very time intensive to create; the new ones will be more like your drivers licence. Each State will get a monthly updated copy of their states membership data base, to help each state keep up with its member info. I know this will not fix it straight away but maybe next year it will be better and the year after that even better. Only time will tell.
The one thing we will need is your help. I know this will rub some people the wrong way, but next year (2006), I really need everybody to have their forms sent back before the 1st of July. I know some of you have only just paid this year’s fees and that we are all still waiting on cards for this year (this is mainly due to IPSCNSW and not the National body). Some of you will not feel you are getting value if you pay by the 1st of July next year, but look at it this way; would you let an insurance policy lapse after its due date? That’s basically what your IPSC membership is and it is due on the 1st of July each year. I know personally, that the processing of memberships at a state level takes up a lot of time. When they come in dribs and drabs it makes it all the harder to work on other projects, because I always seem to be processing membership forms and chasing up details. So if we could all help by having our memberships in by the 1st of July each year, at least we won’t be able to use it as a reason for late membership cards. Once again only time will tell if this is going to help, but at least it’s something.
Recent Matches and other info. Matches that have been run and won are the combined St Ives and Drummoyne 2 day Open, the Blacktown 2 day Open and the Drummoyne Super Sunday. The matches as a whole where good; the weather as a whole was not so good and helps to highlight a few things we need to address during next year in regards to Sanctioning of matches, Team selection matches and the selection of team members. For those of you that have been around a while, none of this is new, just the same old problems that have always been there. Some of these where addressed at the delegates meeting held at BPC, others will be looked at in the new year. For those of you that are interested I have placed some draft forms on this site that relate to team members and the processes required for match sanctioning and team selection status for a match. One of the things that was highlighted by recent events was the lack of information for our members with regards to who is responsible for what and what our members a eligible for in regards to the team spots.
State Titles Coffs Harbour 4th & 5th March 2006
A couple of things:
Sam Hui tells me he already has over 50 entries and only 4 are from NSW. The rest are from QLD, so guys and girls, pull your fingers out and get your entry’s in NOW or it will be a pseudo QLD state titles.
Also due to a communication problem it looks like their will be a $10.00 fee that is to go to the APA when you sign in at Coffs. This is going to the APA as a sanctioning fee for the state titles and will be applied to all disciplines (ISSF etc.) holding a NSW State Titles starting 1st January 2006, we just happen to be the first cab off the rank next year.
I have seen the draft match package and it looks good, once it is all OK’ed I will get it put up on the web site.
That’s about it. I hope you all have a Safe Christmas and New Year and look forward to seeing you next year.

Today saw the re-birth of the IPSC Rifle and Shotgun discipline in NSW.
Drummoyne RSL Pistol Club, located at the ANZAC Shooting Complex at Malabar, hosted an IPSC Introductory Rifle and Shotgun Safety Proficiency Course. Nigel Smith, the Club Captain, had been the driving force behind getting this off the ground.
The day got underway at about 9.00am on a glorious Sydney spring day. The 25 students, all qualified and experienced IPSC pistol competitors, were eager to get started. The theory element of the course was similar to that undertaken by all IPSC holster accredited competitors. Safety was paramount; the messages of "finger off trigger", compliance with safety directions from range officers and muzzle direction constantly re-iterated throughout the theory element. At the conclusion of the theory element, the mandatory written test was held with 100% correct responses being the pass mark.
In the true spirit of IPSC competitors, students shared their own firearms with others who did not have appropriate rifles or shotguns.
The practical element of the course consisted of one-on-one instruction with range officers. Students were assessed on basic skills including
Loading and unloading rifle/shotgun.
Sideways movement to engage targets.
Forward movement to engage targets.
Negotiating obstacles.
Overall competency.
Special thanks go to Kent Docker and John Cooper of NROI for their instruction.
Thanks, too, to Nigel Smith and Drummoyne RSL Pistol Club without whose effort the day would not have been possible.
Congratulations to all students.
Photos of the days training can be viewed on the photos page.

As stated in my last post, membership cards are going to be late this year. Most of the reason for this lays with IPSCNSW and is not caused by IPSCA. Because of this, we have sent out a letter to give you some acknowledgement that we have received your membership form.
Our main hold up has just been sorting through all the forms and trying to set a system in place to process them. Also, quite a few forms were not completed properly, mainly with missing details. Another snag was the wrong fee was sent in. This generally was not the fault of our members as even I had trouble getting this years membership form (with the correct fee on it) in before the due date. Please have some patience with us this year; things are progressing steadily. By next year it will be fixed.
Newsletter
We have started on the Newsletter and hope to have it out soon. Ideally, I would have liked to have had it out by now. It’s just about ready.
Matches
What can I say, this year has not been one of our best for the number of matches we have had. The ones we have had have been very good, but there has not enough of them. Hopefully we will have 2, maybe 3, more this year. Some of these matches will be held on sort notice and their dates may move as we try to fit as many in before the end of the year. Watch our Match Info page for updates.
I would like to ask clubs to start thinking about next year and when they would like to run matches. If you have any ideas on what month you are thinking of let me know and I will start a draft calendar for next year.
Speaking of next year, those people thinking of going to the Nationals in SA need to look at booking accommodation NOW, as it is filling up fast.
For those of you that look like making the NSW teams for the Nationals, please be aware that IPSCNSW and the APA are not organizing the accommodation this year. You need to do it your self and remember to keep your receipts. If you are looking for info on the range or accommodation check out http://www.ipscsa.asn.au/ , they have maps of the area and a list of places to stay.
Firearms Regulation 2005
The NSW State Government is currently reviewing the current Firearms Regulation (1997). This tells us what we can and cannot do in NSW with regard to things like: storage, transport, range attendances, dealers’ requirements and requirements for security guards, plus a whole lot of other little things that can hide surprises. It has nothing to do with calibre or magazine capacity, in their eyes that is a Federal Government issue.
Individuals and organisations are invited to comment on the proposed Regulation by the 4th of November 2005.I am currently working on a reply for IPSCNSW and hope to have it ready in the next few weeks. The proposed Regulations are very broad in what they cover, so therefore I am only working on what I see will have a impact on IPSC competitors.
I know we have a lot of members who have read the Draft and the impact statement. If you have anything that you think IPSCNSW’s comment should have in it, or any ideas with regard to sections of the new regulation, please feel free to send it to me. To help and save me time could you tell me what section and sub section it belongs to, and how you think it should be written. Please do not send me something like “the piece on transport is stuffed”. To save me time I need it to be very specific in what you are talking about.
That's it for now.

Hello every body
If you don’t already know, you now have a new committee for 2005.
At this time I would like to say something inspiring but, nothing comes to mind. The only thing that does is what have I got my self and the others into.
For those of you that don’t know me, my name is Glenn Land and I have been a member of Blacktown Pistol Club since 1987. In 1988 I completed my holster course for IPSC and have been a financial member for most of these years.
Not that I like to think of myself as one of the old timers, but I have seen IPSC at its best and at its worst. At the moment we are far from its worst. In fact the out going committee has left us in a very healthy condition, when you consider the last few years and what they have meant to the shooting sports in general. Our membership in IPSC NSW is better than it was last year, and we already have some new and old clubs looking at joining up. If we are to keep on growing we will all need to work at it.
So now down to work:
Memberships:
I know that one of our favorite gripes is the length of time it takes our membership cards
to come back. Well keep griping because this year is probably not going to be any
better. With this year’s late NSW AGM (and hand over of power and time for us to get
on top of it all) and the fact that most of the IPSC Australia executive Committee are
going to the World shoot Ecuador, it could take a while. So if your membership form
was not lodged with over a month ago, don’t be in a hurry.
Having said that if you were not given a receipt by your club delegate (proof of payment and membership) then contact the Sec Co-Ordinator and I will see what we can do.
(I am looking at a temporary membership card or something else as proof of payment)
Delegates:
Can I have all club delegates contact me with their details, and if your club does not have
one, can some one from your club contact me. I am putting together a club delegates
pack. It is mostly to do with paper work for our record keeping. I would also like to
hear from your club members as to their concerns; say their top 5 for now. Can you send
all info to the Section Co-Ordinator. (See contacts)
Club Affiliation:
At this stage I am not sure how many Clubs have re-affiliated (have not had a chance to
go through all the forms yet) but I would like to hear from the clubs that have and the
Clubs that were once affiliated with IPSC so we can work out what is needed to maybe
have those Clubs rejoin.(all reply’s to Sec Co-Ordinator please)
IPSC NSW Website:
Over the next few months we hope to start to utilize this site more with weekly updates
and more information.
One of the first things we will do is have a Clubs match page.
This will be for any club that wants to invite other members to come to their club days,
and for general club info. Send all info to Jim Staader (Treasurer contacts)
That’s about all for now. I know our new committee has lots of good ideas on improving
our service to our members and on making IPSC NSW the strongest IPSC state in
Australia. So for now all I ask is give us a little time to get sorted and if you have any
concerns direct them to me or one of the other committee members.
Thanks
Glenn Land

OK This is my last post as section co-ordinator and the web master.
On Saturday 30th July 2005 the Annual General Meeting of IPSC (NSW) inc. was held and at that meeting a new committee was elected.
The committee for year 2005 - 2006 is:
Section coordinator - Glenn Land
Deputy Section Coordinator - Damian Fitzgerald
Secretary - Adrian Keed
Treasurer - James (Jim) Staader
Committee member - Murray Bignell
Committee member - Stuart Collibee
I wish the new committee well and will give Glenn my full support. The administration of the web site will be taken over also by Jim Staader so with any luck you all will see more regular updates than I've been able to do. I'm sure that as soon as the minutes of the AGM are ready they will be posted for all to see.
I'd like to thank you all for your support and help while I was Section coordinator. See you round the range.
Take care.

IPSC Australian Team Fundraising Calendar
IPSC Australia is producing 4000 copies of an 18 month IPSC calendar to be distributed Australia wide as a major source of fundraising for the Australian Team heading to Ecuador for the World Shoot. Each page of the calendar has been sold to a sponsor (full list of sponsors to follow) and will feature an individual team member. An additional 180 interest photos will be distributed throughout the calendar.
Quinton and Sylvia of Impressions Imprint on the Gold Coast, who are IPSC members themselves, will be producing the calendar which will retail at $10 each. Calendars will be available from your Section Co-ordinator as well as members of the Australian Team.
Every team member is required to sell a minimum of 20 with a special incentive of an extra $250 funding for the team member who sells the most calendars before August 14. The calendar itself will mark the dates for major Australian and International IPSC competitions so you will always be informed!

These calendars will be at the St. Ives match for display/sale. Pleas support your National team by purchasing one at the match. $10.00 each for a 18 month calendar sounds good to me.
13.07.05
The AGM is fast approaching and will be held on the Saturday after close of competition so if you are a club delegate your attendance is required so please make yourself available at the close of the days shooting.
After a 15 month term it's time for a new committee and I'll admit to feeling the desire to become just a shooter again so we'll see what happens.
The St. Ives guys are already full steam ahead on getting the match ready by the end of the month so it should be a good one indeed.
The 2005 Affiliation forms are up on the site now so get them over to Kylie at the BILPIN post office box. They are able to be downloaded here.
Also the 2005 AGM package can be viewed and downloaded either from the home page or the downloads section. or here.
Good luck and safe shooting.

Hello to you all again. It's been awhile since my last update so here goes.
The Grafton match in June is cancelled. Trevor rang to advise that due to lack of manpower the match is not going ahead. He has added a steel challenge in July so I'll post up the entry form ASAP.
ALSO The IPSC NSW Annual General Meeting will be run at the end of the St. Ives open so make sure your club delegate is made aware of the AGM and is either in attendance or has given someone who is going his proxy vote. Proxy votes must be in the hands of the secretary NO LESS THAN 24 HOURS BEFORE THE START OF THE MEETING OR THEY ARE INELIGIBLE TO BE USED AT THE AGM.
I'll be standing down as Section Co-ordinator this year. After 3 years as Section Co-ordinator and 2 previously as secretary I've decided that it's time I gave someone else a go at the job the way Ken Carter gave me a go a few years ago. So if you can think of someone who would be willing to work and has the best interests of IPSC at heart then maybe it's time that you said something to them. Remember, its' not what your sport can do for you it's what you can do for your sport.

Updated entry form and Match Package for the Drummoyne RSL Pistol Club to be held on the 30/4/2005 and 1/5/2005 can be found here. There will also be a club delegates meeting after the match. please let us know if you are going to attend the meeting.

What a great match Sammy Hui and the crew from Coffs Harbour Pistol Club put together this year!
It was great to see the regular crew attending the start of the 2005 match season, also sad to see a few absent faces. I was also pleased to see the return of one or two faces to IPSC.
The weather was H.O.T!! the humidity was about 300% on Saturday and returned somewhat to normal on Sunday when the sun came out.
Some of the most challenging stages I've shot for a long while, and a helluva lot of fun. We had 60 in attendance and quite a large number down from QLD (again it wasn't a south Qld state titles) enjoying the hospitality of Coffs Harbour Pistol Club.
The match commenced at 8.00am on Saturday and at the end of competition saw David McConachie leading in open, Mat Workman in standard, Craig Ginger in Production (by a small margin) and Martin Bruce in revolver. Good to see the revolver guys having a go.
Back to the motel for a long soak in the pool (aided by a cool ale or two) and then off to our restaurant for dinner. On the way I was forced to defend the Honour of NSW when I was viciously and un-provokedly attacked by a steel chair wielded by one of those banana benders. See you next time David.
Sunday saw a return to competition and some more very challenging stages. The match finished up at around 2pm and presentation by 3pm.
The final results can be viewed here and stage results can be viewed here. Alternatively head to the match info page.
I'd like to thank those that stuck around for presentation and Sammy Hui and the crew from Coffs Harbour Pistol Club for an excellent match. Well done.
Next match is the steel challenge and Louis from Grafton reckons that the slots are filling up rapidly and they WILL close off at 60 shooters. So....get your entry in ASAP or you may miss out.
See you there.

Firstly, let me take this opportunity to wish you all a healthy and prosperous new year and I hope that Santa was good to you all. He brought me two new guns for Christmas so I must have been good last year.
OK, now to business. The state teams have been finalised for the 2005 Nationals and the nominated teams have been posted on the A.P.A. section of the site. Check out the team nominations and congratulations to those that have made the teams. If you have been nominated for team but are unable to make it to the Nationals then please let me and Sam know ASAP as we will have to select another member and time as always, will run short.
The first match of the 2005 IPSC year will again be the Coffs Harbour Open, run by Sammy Hui. Sammy has been putting on great matches over the last couple of years so I'm looking forward to seeing what he has created this year. Entry forms and disclaimer can be viewed here. It will also be a team selection match for 2006.
I've got a calendar more or less finalised up til the end of October so we can all organise to attend these upcoming matches and get time off work if needed.
Also Trevor Bailey from Grafton pistol club has agreed to host a steel challenge match match which will also be a NSW state titles for steel challenge. Entry forms can be viewed here or go to the events section of the site. It's been a while since we shot a steel challenge match so I'm looking forward to going to this one. Also, the Grafton match will be run later in the year than their normal May date so they can have a little extra time to set up for the IPSC match. Their match will be held over the weekend of 25-26 June.
We are still looking for a match for the November slot so if your club hasn't nominated for a match then please let me know so we can slot it in.
That's about it for now. I hope you all had a great Christmas and didn't get too drunk on New Years eve and I look forward to seeing you all throughout the matches in 2005.

After a few date changes which prevented some of the usual crowd from attending, the Newtec Match went off without a hitch.....Unless you discount the hurricane or three that we had on Saturday! It blew stages literally apart, blew patches off targets, and generally caused havoc over the course of the afternoon.
Notwithstanding, the 56 shooters that came to our last match of the year all enjoyed immensely and had a lot of fun. There are a few memorable moments which we have captured on video and will provide me with hours of viewing enjoyment.
It is a shame that of the 56 match attendees' that only a handful could make the presentation and lend a hand to pull the stages down. However thems the breaks.
The match results are here and the stage results are here. Alternatively go to the match info page and check them out there.
As Sam has indicated, he will be announcing state team in the next few weeks and when that happens I'll post them.
We are planning next years match calendar and if your club is interested in hosting a match please let us know. Delegates now is the time to talk to your members and get something hapening.
This year has been a big year for IPSC and I've been proud to be a part of it. I'd like to thank those that have pitched in and helped out at matches this year and I'd also like to thank those clubs that have helped us out by putting matches on.
I'd also like to thank the committee of IPSC (NSW) for the work they have put in, in particular Kylie Docker for her work in getting the membership sorted out, Ian Docker even though he is not on the committee he has been working behind the scenes tirelessly. Also Kent Docker, John Cooper and Paul Britton deserve a mention in dispatches for their great work with the last holster course we ran.
There should be another newsletter before the end of the year so look out for it as it will have entry forms for the next upcoming match in 2005.

Its' been a long time between posts and there is a lot of news so here goes:
The IPSC Australia Annual General Meeting was held in Adelaide at the end of last month and we have some points of interest.
1. Holster positions for all divisions.
All competitors equipment for all divisions is to be returned to the international rule book. That is to say that standard division competitors must return their equipment to the behind the hip bone position effective immediately.
2. Start Positions.
We are having a measured return to some traditional start positions. We are now again allowed to use a table and chair as start props. These re-introductions are for the purposes of loading under pressure as required in international matches.
3. National Grading
That the current criteria for Grand Master shall be enforced, i.e. that the grade will only be retained for 2 years; if the required score is not achieved during this period the grade will automatically go to Master. This will be included in the “Grading System” Manual which is soon to be published.
4. Grading Test
That the Grading System Manual will also include the following under the heading “Regrades”. Grading is automatic at State Titles and other major selected matches as approved by the Section Coordinator. Each Section Coordinator will ratify their members. The Section Coordinator will inform the Grading Officer of their Section, the National Grading Officer and the Membership Officer. The standard division hit factor will be set at 16.5
5. Nationals 2006
To be held in SA at the Southern Vales complex.
6. National Team Selection Criteria
This has been a hot topic of late. I personally believed that our national selection criteria should have been a score based system but the general consensus was to adopt a more flexible system and this is what we got. Follow this link to see the selection criteria. The good news is that Damien Fitzgerald has been appointed as a team selection member by the National Executive. Damien is honest and fair so I'm happy that he got the job on behalf of NSW.
7. The IPSC National Web Site
As some of you already know, the national IPSC site has changed quite a bit of late. The executive have appointed a new web master (Kip Manwaring) who has been doing a great job. Our thanks go to Marcus for doing such a great job over the years.
8. IPSC Australia Equipment
IPSC Australia has been working on providing a shipping container with IPSC equipment for use at nationals, state titles and the like. The project is moving along well and equipment is being manufactured to go in the container.
Minutes will be available shortly but you must ask Jayne Moon for a copy of them. Copies of minutes are only to be provided to financial members.
The Blacktown Open
What an absolutely fantastic match! For those that didn't attend, you missed one of the better matches of this year.
65 competitors attended this match last month and a great time was had by all Our thanks go to Glenn Land, Sam Lopresti, Cheryl Lopresti, Jim Staader, and Dave Saxberg and to those un-named others that helped out behind the scenes. The stages were excellent and challenging. Blacktown is holding the 2005 NSW State Titles next year so I'm sure the stages will be as good as they were this time.
What a great program MSS is to use! The bloody scoring program gave up on Sunday morning and if it wasn't for some fast work and data entry on the new WinMSS program we would have all shot for the fun of it (hang on don't we do that anyway?) Thanks to Paul Jordan and Paul Vardenega for their top work in salvaging the scores and the 4 odd hours they spent re-entering the scores in to WinMSS.
Newtec Open
So far it looks like the Newtec Open match which was scheduled for this month, will be held on 27-28 of November. The Newtec club is holding one of their Western Action opens early November and that is the reason for the date change. As soon as the entry form is published I'll put it on the site.
Steel Challenge Open
Some of you have been asking what has happened to Steel Challenge in NSW. Grafton Pistol Club is looking to put on a steel challenge early to mid next year. I'll keep you all informed.
The last Range Officers Course
What a HUGE success the last Range Officers' course was. We had 25 attendees' and struggled to find enough seats and tables to fit everyone in! It certainly made a big change from the last one we ran with only 8 students.
I'd like to thank the following people:
Greg Moon, Kent Docker, and John Cooper.
These people just keep giving to the sport of IPSC. Each of them gave up 2 days of their long weekend to pitch in and help out. We could use more of them. Thanks again guys.
We had people up from Canberra, down from Grafton, and some from clubs we haven't heard much from in a while. It was great to see so many people come together for the sport. Thanks for coming guys.
That's about it for now. I won't leave is so long between my next post as I know you are all beside yourselves with anticipation....
Stu
We had 60 competitors attend the match and all were looking forward to matching up against the stages we had designed. Breakfast was at 8.00 am and was the usual "Food for Champions" bacon and egg rolls that have proved soo popular with the IPSC crowds and never goes astray. The match kicked off at 9am.
It was a tough match with an evil 24 round pseudo standard exercise stage (yes Guilty as charged) that tested your memory as well as your shooting skills on some nasty hard to shoot targets on the right. Also, welcome back to the "El Presidente" stage on range D. Little A range had some fast quick stages and proved to be the popular range for speed.
All in all it was a great match and a lot of fun was had by those that attended. At the close of competition the following competitors were victorious.
Open Division: Rob Vlakic (NO more charging R.O.'s mate)
Standard Division: "Flinchy" Bob Sully (Got me by less than 2 points &%^*^$)
Production Division: Chris Collum (F.B.G.H.)
Congratulations to those winners. Thanks also go to the Illawarra crew for setting the match up: Paul Jordan, Paul Vardenega, Scotty Barnes, Paul Langley, and yes even Julian helped out!! Also thanks go to Neil King for organising the food in the canteen. Thanks also go to Kent Docker for his "special" target placements.
The next match is at Blacktown on the 18-19th. Entry form is already up on the web so be there. The round count is now 250 plus. I'm looking forward to it. Get your entries in.
Now don't quote me but there are rumours that the Newtec match may be a 2 day match yet. I'll keep you posted.
Also I'm off to Adelaide this Thursday for the IPSC Australia Annual General Meeting. Please let me know if there is anything you would like me to raise on your behalf
Stu
I will say that the newsletter makes great toilet reading. It is 10 pages and there are article already in the pipeline for the next issue.
Some of you may be aware that the Australasian match is this year and it's in Bali. We (Australia) have been given a large number of slots so after team positions have been filled we will be offering these slots to those wishing to go. If you would like to go to Bali in a non team member role then let me know and I'll start the process on your behalf. The team selection will be completed shortly and once announced I'll post if for you all to see.
The next match will be the St. Ives open in July. The entry form is here. Also a copy has been included in the newsletter so I hope to see you all there. If you are thinking about going then don't just think about it, do it, you won't regret it. It is so much fun. For those already going why don't you bring someone along who hasn't been to an open match before and show them what it's all about? We all started where they are so why not help out a newer shooter by having them come with you to a match. It can be pretty daunting as a first time entrant and it would help out our sport.
You would have all seen the match calendar and seen that there is a charity one day match at St. Ives in August for the rural fire service. Please try to attend the match as it will support the local fireie's. I know that when my house was close to the bush fires these guys were there putting their lives on the line to help save homes including mine. I'll be there no matter what. Don't forget to bring a friend.
Ilawarra will be putting on another match in August. We have again subjected ourselves to the arduous task of designing stages and running another match. There will be some surprises in this match so tune to the same bat channel for more info. Again please make an effort to bring someone who hasn't bee to a match before.
The NSW perpetual trophies have finally been handed out to the 2004 state titles winners. You will see a report in the newsletter about this. Thanks to Top Score Projectiles for their generous support.
More to come when I remember it.
See you at the range.

Match Info page has been updated. The next two entry forms are out and on the site. Thanks to Drummoyne RSL Pistol Club for changing their one day match to two days to help us out. The St. Ives match will follow in July.
The minutes from the IPSC NSW AGM are complete and for those that want to see the minutes please e-mail me for them.
Buyback is almost over. They come to see me next Tuesday so this will be the last weekend that I'll have to work on the damn things. I'll be happy when it's over, as it's bee 9 months solid work. At any rate we will se won't we?

Our newly appointed NROI representative is Kent Docker. For those of you who don't know him (are there any?) he will be a driving force within NSW ensuring that matches run smoothly with a minimum of bureaucracy. Kent was also voted as "Top R.O." at the Nationals for the second year running. Good on ya Kent!
24.04.04
Been a busy month for me and yet again I'm finding it really difficult to get the time to post here as often as I like.
Well another nationals is over for another year. Did you all have fun?? I know I did. Got to make the man Vs man for the first time so I'm happy. The IPSC Australia AGM has been held and Des Lilley has been re-elected to the position of RD again. DRD is Errol Thomas from QLD. Secretary is Tony Baldock.
You may know that the Grafton Shoot will be on again this year so get to the match info page and get your entry to Trevor ASAP.
See you there.
24.03.04
Wow, Has it been a whole month since I posted here?? Time has escaped me yet again.
There is some news since last month.
The NSW IPSC AGM was held at the Illawarra match last weekend and you all have me as section co-ordinator for another year. Slacky is Deputy Section Co-ordinator, Ken Robson is secretary for another year. Mark Raabe stood down as treasurer this year and Kylie Docker now fills the position. Mark Raabe is now a general committee member.
I'll post the AGM minutes when I finish typing them up and post them to the downloads page.
More to follow when I get a second or three to post them up.
Drummoyne is holding a Super Sunday on the 4th of next month. This will be your (our) last opportunity to test guns and loads before the nationals so get there and support them. The entry form is on the match info page.
